In an isolated house, strangers Nat and Diane take shelter from relentless masses of attacking birds. They find relative sanctuary but not comfort or peace – there’s no electricity and little food, and a nearby neighbor may still be alive and watching them. Another refugee, the young and attractive Julia, arrives with some news of the outside world, but her presence also brings discord. Their survival becomes even more doubtful when paranoia takes hold of the makeshift fortress – an internal threat to match that of the birds outside.

THE SHARK IS BROKEN

In this comedy written by Ian Shaw and Joseph Nixon, the short tempers and short circuits of JAWS stars Robert Shaw (father of the play’s co-author Ian), Richard Dreyfuss, and Roy Scheider take center stage as they bond, argue, drink, gamble, and pray for an end to the film shoot, not knowing it will change their lives forever.

THE DROWSY CHAPERONE
Book by Bob Martin & Don McKellar | Music & Lyrics by Lisa Lambert & Greg Morrison
Run Time: 105 minutes | Musical Comedy
AUDITIONS: 03/07 (Sun) & 03/08 (Mon) | 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
PERFORMANCES: 05/14 (Fri) – 05/30 (Sun)
Winner of five Tony Awards, including Best Book and Best Original Score, THE DROWSY CHAPERONE is a loving send-up of the Golden Age musical, featuring one show-stopping song and dance number after another.
With the house lights down, a man in a chair appears on stage and puts on his favorite record: the cast recording of a fictitious 1928 musical. The recording comes to life and THE DROWSY CHAPERONE begins as the man in the chair looks on. Mix in two lovers on the eve of their wedding, a bumbling best man, a desperate theatre producer, a not-so-bright hostess, two gangsters posing as pastry chefs, a misguided Don Juan, and an intoxicated chaperone, and you have the ingredients for an evening a madcap delight.
Hailed by NEW YORK MAGAZINE as “The Perfect Broadway Musical,” THE DROWSY CHAPERONE is a masterful meta-musical, poking fun at all the tropes that characterize the musical theatre genre.
